Every record needs an identity.
Music has been a part of Jon Belmont’s life from the very beginning. He received his first keyboard at the age of four and has been playing the piano ever since. He later studied violin, developing an early fascination with strings, orchestral sounds and musical arrangements. By twelve, Jon had discovered music production and DJing, spending countless hours studying instrumentals and a cappellas to understand the sounds, vocals and arrangements behind the records he loved.
While studying music production in high school, Jon began working with local artists as both a producer and engineer. Wanting to better understand the voice as an instrument, he took vocal lessons and joined a choir, studying vocal technique, harmony and arrangement. These experiences helped shape his approach to production and eventually led him into vocal production.
Influenced by producers including Dr. Dre, Scott Storch, Darkchild, Bryan-Michael Cox, Timbaland, The Neptunes and Kanye West, Jon became fascinated with sonic identity and how different producers could use similar tools to create completely different sounds. To him, a producer is an artist, sound is the palette and the studio is the canvas. Over the years, Jon has worked with artists including Kelly Rowland, Muni Long, Rihanna, Akon, Lucky Daye, Darin, Verse Simmonds and R. City, among others.
